Traditionnal
camera (argentical)
- The
objective forms the image.
- The
diaphragm the variable opening of which controle the stream of lumiére
(which passes on the image reconstituted on the objective).
- The
film "storing" this image by a chemical reaction of the emulsion.
- The
film is then handled and processed by a specialized laboratory.
- One
speaks then about analogical functioning.

Digital
camera
- The
objective is always there, the diaphragm also.
- But
the film is replaced by a sensor (of the size of a nail) who catches
and transforms the light and the image in a continuation of digital
data
(0 and 1) thanks to a software being inside the device, until the final
image which joins on a card memory which it replaces the film.
- The
contents of the card report is then transferred in the computer, either
by means of a cable connecting both, or through a reader connected with
the computer.
